Captain: Grant Young Hostess/Chef: Tara Hartz
Welcome to Yacht Caroline for a week of fun cruising in The Grenadines with your captain Grant Young and first mate Tara Hartz.
We both have a love for the ocean and discovering new places to travel. One of our dreams was to sail and scuba dive around St Vincent and the Grenadines. When Festiva Sailing asked us to join their family, we jumped at the opportunity.
Grant is from South Africa and has been sailing the unpredictable African wild coast from a young age with his family. Shortly after finishing his studies from high school he moved to the United Kingdom to study Software Engineering. After years of study and part time racing sailing yachts on the south coast of UK, Grant decided that a 9 to 5 job wasn’t for him and so he pursued a career in the yachting industry and holds a Sailing Yacht Master Certification.
Tara is from the outback of Australia. From a young age she loved the water and working with animals. While training and competing in the equestrian industry, she also excelled in national swimming competitions. The love of animals and swimming brought her to the ocean to discover more about the marine animals and so pursued a career as a scuba diving instructor, working the islands of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. Scuba diving was the doorway into the yachting industry, first by getting a power boat license, working on Super Yachts and then finally becoming a Yacht Master.
Our vast experiences combined in sailing, diving, world travel and lets not forget the best BBQ’s (Braai’s) in the world, blended with the warm hospitality of the Safa’s and the Aussies, will guarantee you a great vacation with Festiva Sailing Vacations.
