API Usage Policy

This API Usage Policy (“Policy”) governs access to and use of the Central Yacht Agent Inc. (“CYA”, “Central Yacht Agent”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) Application Programming Interface (“API”), data feeds, integrations, web services, and related technologies.

By accessing or using the CYA API, you agree to comply with this Policy, our Terms and Conditions, Privacy Policy, and any additional agreements governing API access.

1. Purpose of the API

The CYA API is provided to allow authorized users and subscribers to display and utilize yacht listing information, broker information, charter information, media, and related content within approved applications and websites.

The API is intended to facilitate legitimate yacht marketing, brokerage, charter, and marine industry activities.

2. License Grant

Subject to compliance with this Policy and any applicable subscription agreement, Central Yacht Agent grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the API solely for approved business purposes.

No ownership rights are transferred through API access.

All rights not expressly granted are reserved by Central Yacht Agent.

3. Ownership of Data

All API data, content, structure, organization, formatting, and associated intellectual property rights remain the property of Central Yacht Agent, its licensors, brokers, yacht owners, charter managers, photographers, content providers, and other rights holders.

API access does not grant ownership rights in any content.

4. Authorized Use

API users may:

  • Display yacht listings on approved websites.
  • Display broker information.
  • Display charter information.
  • Display yacht specifications.
  • Display approved media.
  • Integrate yacht search functionality.
  • Develop approved applications using API data.

All uses must comply with applicable laws and this Policy.

5. Prohibited Uses

Users may not:

Data Replication
  • Create, maintain, or distribute a competing yacht database.
  • Republish API data as a standalone database.
  • Build a competing yacht listing service.
  • Build a competing charter platform.
  • Use API data to train AI systems without written permission.
  • Create derivative databases from API content.
Scraping and Harvesting
  • Scrape API content.
  • Circumvent API access controls.
  • Reverse engineer API functionality.
  • Harvest user or broker information.
Unauthorized Distribution
  • Resell API access.
  • Share API credentials.
  • Allow unauthorized third parties access.
  • Redistribute raw API data.
Misrepresentation
  • Alter yacht information in a misleading manner.
  • Misrepresent ownership or availability.
  • Remove attribution where required.

6. Website Display Requirements

Websites using the API must:

  • Clearly display yacht information as provided.
  • Maintain accurate listing information.
  • Promptly remove content upon request.
  • Comply with copyright requirements.
  • Display required attributions.

Central Yacht Agent reserves the right to require modifications to API implementations.

7. Image Usage Requirements

All yacht photographs, videos, virtual tours, and media provided through the API remain the property of their respective owners.

Images Must Not Be Replicated

API users may not:

  • Download and permanently store images.
  • Copy images into local databases.
  • Host images on their own servers.
  • Create local image archives.
  • Redistribute images independently of the API.
Required Method

Images must be displayed using URLs supplied by Central Yacht Agent.

Whenever possible, images should be served directly from CYA-hosted URLs.

This ensures that:

  • Copyright ownership is respected.
  • Updates are reflected automatically.
  • Removed images cease displaying.
  • Bandwidth and usage can be monitored.

8. Caching Restrictions

API responses may be cached solely to improve performance.

Maximum Cache Period

Unless otherwise authorized in writing:

  • API data may not be cached for more than 24 hours.
  • Availability data should be refreshed at least every 12 hours.
  • Charter rates should be refreshed at least every 24 hours.
  • Broker information should be refreshed regularly.
Prohibited Caching

Users may not:

  • Maintain permanent copies of API content.
  • Archive API responses indefinitely.
  • Create historical databases from API feeds.
  • Store deleted listings after removal from the API.

Central Yacht Agent reserves the right to modify caching requirements at any time.

9. Attribution Requirements

CYA may require attribution on websites displaying API content.

Examples may include:

  • “Data provided by Central Yacht Agent”
  • CYA logo display
  • Link back to CYA
  • Broker attribution

Specific attribution requirements may be communicated separately.

10. API Credentials

Users are responsible for safeguarding API credentials.

Users must not:

  • Share API keys.
  • Publish API credentials publicly.
  • Embed API credentials in client-side code where exposure is likely.

Compromised credentials should be reported immediately.

11. Rate Limits

Central Yacht Agent may impose rate limits on API usage.

Limits may include:

  • Requests per minute.
  • Requests per hour.
  • Requests per day.
  • Bandwidth limitations.
  • Concurrent connection limits.

Exceeding limits may result in temporary suspension or throttling.

12. Monitoring and Auditing

CYA reserves the right to monitor:

  • API requests.
  • Usage patterns.
  • Data consumption.
  • Bandwidth usage.
  • Compliance with this Policy.

We may audit API implementations to ensure compliance.

13. Suspension and Termination

API access may be suspended or terminated immediately for:

  • Unauthorized use.
  • Excessive usage.
  • Credential sharing.
  • Copyright violations.
  • Failure to maintain subscription status.
  • Violation of this Policy.
  • Activities deemed harmful to CYA or its users.

Termination may occur without prior notice where necessary to protect the Platform.

14. Data Accuracy Disclaimer

API data is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis.

CYA does not guarantee:

  • Accuracy.
  • Completeness.
  • Availability.
  • Continuous service.
  • Error-free operation.

Users remain responsible for validating information before relying upon it.

15. Changes to the API

Central Yacht Agent reserves the right to:

  • Modify API endpoints.
  • Change data structures.
  • Add or remove fields.
  • Modify rate limits.
  • Discontinue services.

Reasonable efforts may be made to provide advance notice when practical.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Central Yacht Agent shall not be liable for:

  • Lost profits.
  • Lost revenue.
  • Data loss.
  • Service interruptions.
  • Business interruption.
  • Indirect damages.
  • Consequential damages.
